Dr. Krause

Dr. Krause received her bachelor of science degree from Michigan State University and graduated from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. Dr. Krause has always had an interest in behavior. She practiced general pet medicine in the metro Detroit area for 15 years. During that time, she started helping pets with behavior issues. Soon, Dr. Krause realized she wanted to devote her entire career to the field of veterinary behavior. Therefore, in 2007, Great Lakes Veterinary Behavior Consultants was established.

Dr. Krause has attended hundreds of hours of continuing education in behavioral medicine. Education in veterinary behavior is continual and ever-evolving. She is a Fear Free Certified Professional.

She has presented talks for the Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association technician continuing education program and the Dearborn Animal Shelter. She was treasurer of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) from 2008 to 2016. Dr. Krause saw clinical cases with Dr. John Ciribassi, DACVB from 2016-2017. Lizzie Sterling, KPA CTP, FFCP

Lizzie first started working in the veterinary field in 2020 as a veterinary assistant and was later promoted to veterinary technician. She received her Fear Free Professional Certification and developed a passion for working with behavior cases, especially animals labeled as “aggressive”. She went on to adopt Rex, a mutt who was set to be euthanized due to his bite history. What better way to learn about aggressive dog behavior than to live with one? She quickly realized she wanted to work exclusively with animals who are struggling with behavior concerns. She is a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Professional Program.

Lizzie lives in Novi with her dogs (Rex and Tofu) and rabbits (Jasper and Sapphire). Rex and Tofu are both very fearful and anxious. They continuously push Lizzie to learn as much as she can about assisting dogs who suffer with anxiety.
